- The T-55AM was developed from the T-55A which already had a new anti-radiation lining and full PAZ/FVU chemical filtration system. This is a further improved version from 1982. It had many small modifications including BDD turret brow armour and glacis appliqué armour.
- On display in what is best known as Hall 2 of the Kubinka Tank Museum, although its official title is now Pavilion 2 in Area 2 of the Park Patriot museum.
